We gave him his EARLY birthday present yesterday (can't believe he'll be 9) which was an ipod shuffle. Is this how any other ci people are doing it? He didn't like telecoil, he said it was too quiet (Brook hates telecoil !) so he's just using it w/earbuds near his mics and he loves it!
He loves that he can walk around and listen to music like his older cousins do! He even let Brook try it out (for like a minute) and now she wants one too! If they plug directly into their ci via an audio cord their processors came with, they can't operate the shuffle since the buttons are on the earbud cord.

Love it!!! When Thomas wants to listen to any of our MP3 players we usually just put the ear bud right next to his microphone(s). Now that I see Gage not only can hear with just the buds but he prefers it I'm not going to dig through the box trying to find the telecoil for Thomas.
on Cochlear, telecoil is set by pressing the 2 side by side buttons on the BTE Freedom.....on the newer Nucleus 5's it can be put on automatic which would automatically switch when needed but that would likely drive my kids bonkers since they apparently don't like it.
Ian prefers headphones, but when the buds are needed, his set has a little metal portion which he puts on his magnet (his internal on the old N22 side is directly behind his ear) so the music plays right into his rear directional mic. The newer implanted side is much higher back (like Gage's - but maybe not quite so high) and the problem with that is WE can hear the music too...so we all like the headphones better. He, however, does not have an IPod Shuffle so there are no earbud issues.

No my friends dont do that at all with there ci's they have a headphone adapter... it should be in the CI KIT. Its so much easier I know its available online if they dont have it in their kit. Hope this helps

My Evan wears hearing aids but he likes to listen to his brother's Ipod that way.. But there really isn't that many songs he should be listening to!! :)
