Using the telephone with cochlear implant(s)

Here you'll watch Brook who happens to be nearly three years younger than Gage but is bilaterally implanted, use the telephone (speaker phone) with ease...

And to show a previous video of Gage using the phone, you'll see he does very well too, but needs assistance. He wears only one device. though it's not captioned, you can see him looking at me a good bit, for repeats. It would help if he held the phone up closer to his processor.

Speakerphones sound so much better then using a telephone normally for some reason!

I gave up the phone many years ago. I know now I can use the phone, but I have this fear of the phone. That little monster gives me nightmares!

Most of my phone use is out of habit. I believe I can't hear them on the other end, but I can. So I think I can't hear them.

Gage and Brooke have given me a new push to use the phone. Thanks for the inspiration.

Jessica's a big fan of the speaker phone too! She talks exactly the same way as Brook does - talking and being distracted by other things at the same time!

Brook is SOOO adorable as always!

Funny that Andrew does better on the cell speaker than the home phone. your kiddos are so cute. I think Andrew has a touch of a southern accent... maybe it is built in w/ the implants. nope- i think yours come by it naturally LOL! So adorable!!!!!

(do you tire of people commenting on the accents???)

Ah, prince andrew and the queen mum: my husband would have placed a special request for that accent to be 'built in' on our daughter's ci: his greatest fear as a southerner is that the little one may develop a yankee accent up here near Boston. We have to keep watching Gage and Brooke videos to reinforce the 'right' accent.
